Sportsmanship

Pursuing Victory with Honor Program

The essential elements of character building and ethics in CIF sports are embodied in
the concept of
sportsmanship and six (6) core principles:

  1. Trustworthiness

  2. Respect

  3. Responsibility

  4. Fairness

  5. Caring

  6. Good citizenship.

 Pre CCS Points of Emphasis

The following is to be read by the Principal before the first CCS Play-off contest.

  • Sportsmanship is a top priority of the CCS.

    • It is expected that all coaches, players, officials, and spectators respect the integrity and judgment of everyone involved in this contest, including opponents and game officials.

  • Any player or coach who is ejected from a CCS Play-off contest for flagrant unsportsmanlike behavior will be removed from participating in the remainder of the contest and all subsequent CCS Play-off contests in the current season.

    • Players are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that brings credit to themselves, their school, communities, coaches, and families. They shall refrain from any conduct that degrades, baits, intimidates, or otherwise discredits their opponents or officials.

    • Coaches are expected to maintain decorum consistent with the educational values of interscholastic athletics by showing restraint and composure in the emotional climate of Play-offs and to insist their players conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner.

  • Review the six (6) pillars of the Pursuing Victory with Honor Program

    • Only when competition reflects these "six pillars of character" is the highest potential of sports achieved.
