Footpath App
Purpose
Provide an easy way to reference routes and courses for new athlete. Allowing new runners to have a way to ensure they do not get lost, or are able to select routes from assigned sets during practice based on route mileages or even elevation details when at Rancho.

How to set up

Download the app from the you prefered app store
(badges to the right are direct clickable links) -
Make a free account and log in

​Come back to this page and click on the routes which you would like to import into your account (link to routes below)

If routes are updated by Coach Garza, they will not reflect those updates automatically. You will need to delete the entire folder of routes and re-download it as outlined in step 3.

Tips
By touching the elevation line shown in a window at the bottom of the map, you are able to see a marker move along the course to more easily understand the direction and progression of the course if it laps over a section a few times.

Also, by touching the elevation line, you are able to see more details about the % grade at any particular point in the route.

​Downloading GPX Files for use with Garmin Watches
If you have a Garmin watch with GPS capability, you are able to use your watch for turn-by-turn directions instead of having to use your phone. To do this, you will need to download the route files (GPX) from Footpath.

Steps:

Open the Footpath app (on Desktop go to https://footpathapp.com and log-in)

Click the hamburger menu icon. This will take you to "My Routes" view.

Click the back arrow icon. This will take you to the "List" view.

Select the appropriate list from the "My list" section, and then find the route you want to download.

Select the route you want to download and then click the export icon in the top right corner.
This will give you the option to "Export as...", please select it. -
This will prompt a pop-up with several export options. Select "GPX Route".

This will prompt another pop-up with a few options.

Select "Open with...​" if you are performing this on the phone with Garmin Connect installed.
Then select Garmin Connect from the available options. -
Select "Share..." if you need to save the file to the cloud or send it to yourself in some way to then separately upload it to Garmin Connect.

Select "Save to Files..." if you want to save the file locally.​

How to Add a GPX Route to Your Garmin Watch​​
Steps:​

Import it into Garmin Connect​​

On Mobile (from Footpath)

Select "Open with..." from the export menu in Footpath.​

Select Open with Garmin Connect

Select "Running" as the activity
-
You will now see the route in a map view with a pull-up menu underneath. Click "Save".

A pop-up to "Save Course" will allow you to give the route a clear name,
select if you want it to be public/private, and then click "Save". -
Now you will see a send to watch icon. Click on it and select your device.

Find the GPX Route file​

Open the GPX file with Garmin Connect

Select "Running" as the activity

You will now see the route in a map view with a pull-up menu underneath. Click "Save".

Open your Garmin Connect account

Go to "Training & Planning" and select "Courses"

Upload or import the GPX file.

Select "Running", give the route a clear name, and save it.

Sync your watch.
Open the Garmin Connect app on the "Home" page, click the Sync icon, so the route transfers to your watch -
Use the route on your watch.

​Click the "START / STOP" button on your watch to take you to "Run" and then press it again to select it.

Click the "UP" button to go into the run menu. Scroll down to select "Navigation".

Select "Courses", and then select the route you want to follow.
