PE Sports Exemption

Students who successfully participate in school-sponsored athletics may qualify for a Physical Education (PE) Sports Exemption under California Education Code.

 

This exemption allows students to earn credit toward their second year of PE based on completion of one or more seasons in a California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) sport.

 

1 season = 5 PE credits ( 1 semester)
2 seasons = 10 PE credits ( 1 full year)

 

All students must still complete PE 9 in ninth grade.

 

To apply, students must fill out the 
PE Course Exemption for CIF Athletics Application.
Then, students must complete the season of sport, and fill out the 
SCUSD Sports PE Exemption : Season Completion Form 
which asks them to obtain verification and signatures from their Athletic Director, counselor, and principal (or designee) by the posted deadline.

 

Approved exemptions will appear on the student’s transcript but
do not reduce the total credits required for graduation.
