Community Service

We offer a number of opportunites for students to help their community.

High School Requirement

All SCUSD students must complete and document 20 hours of community service as part of the graduation requirements.

Students must get a Confirmation of Hours Form and have Coach Garza sign it.
Hard copies of the form are available in the Counseling Office, which is also where they must be submitted.

Alumni Events

Cross Country hosts the XC Alumni Relays annually on the
last Saturday of July.

Track & Field hosts 3 dual meet @ Wilcox each season.

We have our coaches, adjunct duty teacher volunteers, and team members running the meets, but we still can use more help with the following:

Result runner for Shotput, High Jump, & Discus

League Meet

~5 hrs available & excusal from class
Look for League Trials & League Finals on
our meet schedule to see the time and place

Wilcox Track & Field is assigned annually several jobs to help run the divisional league meets. These jobs are only available to volunteers who performed them during dual meets. Coach Garza will talk with the volunteers to determine coverage.

Wilcox students will be able to get excused from class to help and can take the bus with the team. Note that there is not always a return bus, so check the schedule & plan accordingly.

Middle School Meet

~3-5 hrs available

Typically on 1st Wed. of May @ 3:30 PM

Wilcox is the venue for 1 out of 3 SCVAL middle school meets annually.

Typically, Peterson or Cabrillo hosts the meet. As such, we can't provide a list of jobs they need help with.

There is no sign-up for this opportunity.
Volunteers just show up to the track after school,
Ask for a coach of the school running the meet,
and then ask them what you can help with.

Please stay until the end of the meet to help Coach Garza put all the equipment away, and to have him sign off on your hours.

Special Projects

No hours projection available - TBD

We are always looking to improve our programs.
In order to do that, sometimes we need help with one-off projects.

There are no planned projects at this time; they are TBD.
However, as an example, a recent project was documenting past team photos and team member names.
