Community Service
We offer a number of opportunites for students to help their community.
High School Requirement
All SCUSD students must complete and document 20 hours of community service as part of the graduation requirements.
Students must get a Confirmation of Hours Form and have Coach Garza sign it.
Hard copies of the form are available in the Counseling Office, which is also where they must be submitted.

League Meet Job/s Assistance
Each season, our track team is assigned several jobs to perform at the League Trials & Finals.
Look for League Trials and League Finals on our meet schedule here.
Depending on the job we are assigned, we will need different amounts of help.
In order to be able to help with this job, you must have had experience with the job during our dual meets.
Coach Garza will contact you to see if you are available
after you help with a couple of dual meets.
Middle School Meet Assistance
The local middles schools do not have appropriate track facilities to hold their own track meets.
For this reason every year around the first week of May one of the middle schools will host a meet at Wilcox.
They need help running the meet, but I have no idea what jobs they will assign.
Please email djgarza@scusd.net if you have questions before the first Wednesday of May.
There is no official sign-up for this.
Volunteers just need to go to the track after school,
ask for the head coach of the school running the meet,
and then go to them and ask what they can help with.
At the end of the meet, find Coach Garza, and he will sign off on your hours.
XC/Track Special Projects Assistance
We are always looking to improve our programs, and as a part of this, sometimes we need help with special one-off projects.
The project is TBD, and there is no clear idea what project may come up or when.
However, to give an example, a recent special project was to help create a historical team photo archive with the names of all former athletes.
Please email djgarza@scusd.net if you are interested in helping.
