Race Overview
4 x 1-mile relay! (Mixed gender & fitness levels) - Max 12 teams per race!

Relay teams are assigned using an algorithm to ensure balance.
A handicap is added to keep the race close.
Teams are finalized on race day after check-in.
​​
Our goal is to have at least one full alumni team & one full student-athlete team.
If there aren't enough runners, we create a mixed relay team.
​
This event will take place annually on the last Saturday of July. Plan accordingly.
​
Race Day Info​

Coach Garza will open the gates and start set up ~7:30 AM
-
9 AM check-in officially opens (~15 minutes total)

Let me know of any changes to pace/participation

If you're absent after check-in concludes, you will be scratched

Optional course jog during check-in to familiarize and warm up
-
Teams are finalized after check-in (~5 minutes).

​Teams will be displayed on "Current Teams" tab of records gsheet below.

Please no questions to timer before they are posted. It says Preliminary or Final.

Find your team & determine race order (~20 minutes).

Report back to the check-in table your team's race order​
- ​Expect timer will need to find your team first​
- Need to tell each runners name in order. Wait until timer is ready for next name, please.​

​Use remaining time for drills, chatting, or practicing baton passes.

Baton passes:
-
Should be within the exchange zone (non-blind ok).

No disqualification for dropped batons.

Relay starts roughly 1 hour from check-in opening. (~30 minutes)

Ensure you can be there for the duration of the start plus your leg.

Plan your warm-up time accordingly​

Stay out of the sun when possible​ - we will have 2 tents

Spectating:

Feel free to invite friends/family to watch!

You may spectate from inside the field if participating in the race.

Once you are on deck, cross the track when it is safe to be ready for handoff.​

If you are not participating we ask you watch from the bleachers

Post-race activities

Group cool down along the course & pickup cones, thank you!

Fruit will be provided for all​

Feel free to hang out while the coaches have not left.

Check if folks plan to get lunch as a group after.
